The Tara Miller Melanoma Center at the Abramson Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania, has established an 8-week summer internship program as an introduction to different career opportunities in oncology. The program will specialize in melanoma and other skin cancers. The goal of the program is to expand the pipeline of students interested in pursuing a career in biomedical sciences. Participants of the program can expect the following: orientation into melanoma (prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship) rotation in a research lab clinic shadowing with providers (physicians, NPs, PAs, RNs, and others) human biobanking research clinical data entry and management clinical trials research attending research & clinical conferences and seminars Students will have the opportunity to meet with a multidisciplinary group of faculty and staff members to gain exposure to various career paths in basic science and clinical/translational medicine. The internship will culminate in a presentation by each intern on a topic of their choice.
