About The Position

Cornell Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is seeking a Temporary Counselor/Therapist. FSAP offers no-fee mental health consultation, brief counseling, referral services, integrated consultation services, crisis response, outreach, and education on mental health topics to Cornell faculty, staff, academics, postdocs, retirees, and their spouses/partners. Services are delivered both in-person and via telehealth. Counselors are expected to provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and responsive care, acknowledging diverse identities and experiences such as age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, ability, veteran status, and sexual orientation.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Counseling (LMHC), Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), Social Work (LMSW or LCSW) or Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
At least three years of clinical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Currently resides in New York State
Licensed in New York State as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Master Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
CPR-BLS level certification

Nice To Haves

Training, expertise, and demonstrated skill working with historically marginalized and/or underrepresented communities
Experience with electronic health record management systems
Proficiency in a language in addition to English is desirable
Experience in an employee assistance program or in a university health care setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide counseling services within the scope of FSAP to faculty and staff, postdocs, visiting scholars, retirees, and their spouses/partners.
Maintain case management to ensure client dispositions are successfully completed.
