Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electronics Technician to support our Environmental Effects Engineering organization as a TEMPEST Engineering Technician. In this role, you will work closely with the TEMPEST Team Lead, MiS Engineering, and Value Stream teams to support the design, development, and testing of complex systems, subsystems, and platforms. This position involves hands-on execution of TEMPEST and EMP tests, laboratory and platform test setup, equipment configuration, data collection, and engineering support across multiple facilities. The ideal candidate is an experienced technician capable of working autonomously, adapting quickly to evolving requirements, and collaborating effectively with engineering teams and customers. Additionally, this role may require work outside standard business hours and could involve periodic travel to support TEMPEST team objectives.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship only (dual citizenship not permitted) is required, as access to information under this program/contract is restricted to individuals with sole U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain a US DoD Top Secret Security Clearance (Selected Candidate will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements)
  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Certification may be required for technical support roles
  • 10+ years of experience on E6 platforms, including system installation, wiring, system upgrades, post-installation checkouts, and field troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with test equipment including spectrum analyzers, VNAs, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, power meters, and frequency counters
  • Strong skills in interpreting wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, and assembly drawings
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Visio)
  • Familiarity with a broad range of electronic test instruments and system‑level test principles

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on TEMPEST experience, including executing test setups and supporting products through TEMPEST certification
  • Experience with RF systems, RF test instrumentation, and RF troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of electronic formulas and methods used in testing, diagnosing, and maintaining RF systems
  • Experience with AC, DC, and RF high‑pot testing

Responsibilities

  • Support TEMPEST/EMP operations by designing breakout boxes, procuring components, and facilitating the build of breakout boxes, bulkhead panels, and test setup ambient certifications
  • Build and assemble test fixtures and cable assemblies under the direction of the Lead TEMPEST/EMP Engineer
  • Review, update, and maintain engineering documentation and test procedures
  • Apply advanced electronic theory and test methodologies to perform troubleshooting and resolve technical challenges
  • Set up, operate, and validate test configurations in laboratory and on-platform environments
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and customers to support system-level test activities
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of engineering practices
  • Serve as a technical lead for assigned tasks, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and professional conduct
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), RTX Quality, and Physical & Cyber Security policies
  • Support off-hours work and periodic travel as required to meet program objectives
  • Perform 100% onsite work or at customer locations, as required for this technician role.
