About The Position

In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam’s etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry. The primary function is to analyze prepared TEM lamellae using FEI/Thermo Fisher TEM tools with STEM imaging, EDX, and EELS techniques, and to prepare TEM lamellae using Thermo Fisher Helios Dual Beam FIB tools when TEM sample volume is low. This role is part of Lam Microscopy Services, supporting a large base of process engineers at Lam and handling a high volume of samples from multiple business units.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Physics, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with a minimum of three years of related experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to work with a large internal customer base.
  • Experience creating technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced lab environment.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of hands-on TEM experience preferred
  • Project management and problem-solving experience preferred.
  • TEM sample preparation experience using the FIB technique is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain TEM tools using Lam best known methods (BKM).
  • Handle sensitive customer samples appropriately and protect customer intellectual property (IP).
  • Work with process engineers to understand how to locate regions of interest, properly process samples, interpret data, and troubleshoot when results do not meet expectations.
  • Maintain the integrity of experiments and data to ensure valid results.
  • Actively participate in developing new techniques to expedite sample processing.
  • Share new learnings and developments with other team members through documentation, presentations, and training sessions.
  • Collaborate effectively with process engineers.
  • Foster a healthy and inclusive working environment.
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere and cordial working relationships.
