About The Position

Perform numerous functions including processing deposits, withdrawals, posting to general ledger accounts, cashing negotiable items, processing loan payments, savings bonds, and cashier’s checks while promoting the bank’s products and services and providing excellent customer service. The Teller position assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with clients, ensuring that client requests and inquiries are promptly resolved. This role also involves operating an online teller terminal, maintaining the privacy of customer information, and ensuring the Bank’s quality reputation is maintained and projected. Additionally, the Teller will assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and management, assisting area personnel as required, and assisting with training or orientation as needed. The Teller will keep their supervisor informed of area activities and any problems or concerns, completing required reports and records accurately and promptly, and attending meetings and training classes that may be held on weekdays, evenings, and/or Saturdays. This role also includes performing night drop functions and related clerical duties as assigned, and ensuring that work areas are clean, secure, and well maintained. The Teller is also responsible for cross-selling Bank products and services.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least one year of related experience/cash handling preferred
  • Previous Teller experience preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Professional appearance, dress, and attitude
  • Good math skills
  • Good typing skills
  • Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin and money counting machines, and telephone
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables
  • Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios, percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs
  • Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; And define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation
  • Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs
  • Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tenses and good vocabulary
