About The Position

A Teller undertakes bank transactions and interacts directly with customers. A Teller is usually the first person a customer sees when they walk into one of our locations. This position will be required to work into a Saturday rotation. The position requires incumbents to be off work for a minimum of five consecutive business days.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • One (1) year of teller experience required
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Independence Bank Teller Certification within 6 months
  • Requires completion of Teller Fundamentals and Teller Level Up training within three (3) months

Responsibilities

  • Greets all customers and visitors when they enter the location lobby or approach the drive-thru
  • Processes daily transactions including receiving deposits, cashing checks, accepting loan payments, and disbursing cash
  • Identifies counterfeit currency
  • Cashes checks and payout money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds
  • Explains, promotes, and sells specialized products such as cashier’s checks and prepaid gift cards
  • Exchanges foreign currency
  • Performs services for customers including ordering bank cards and checks
  • Records all transactions promptly, accurately, and in accordance with bank procedures
  • Answers inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank related products
  • Assists customers in solving account errors or problems, providing account balances, etc.
  • Balances currency, cash and checks in cash drawer daily; arrange monies according to denomination
  • Promotes and maintains positive relations with all contacts, customers, and potential customers
  • May be responsible for bank openings and/or closings
  • May be required to work drive thru
  • May be required to float to other locations
