The Telecommunications Operator serves as the first point of phone contact for Dayton Children’s Hospital, delivering a welcoming and professional experience for all callers. This role manages high volume incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls while ensuring accurate routing to the appropriate departments or individuals. The operator plays a vital role in hospital communication by processing emergency notifications, overhead paging, and urgent alerts in accordance with established protocols. This position supports patient care and hospital operations by providing on call information, patient information, and directory assistance. The operator also monitors fire alarms, weather conditions, and other safety indicators to initiate timely notifications to staff. In emergency situations, the operator utilizes the hospital’s mass notification system overhead paging, and/or Vocera messaging to ensure rapid communication with response teams, on call physicians and employees. This role is essential to maintaining effective communication and supporting safety throughout the organization.
