About The Position

Column Technical Services is seeking a detailed-oriented Clerk Page/Telephone Operator to support daily communication operations within a healthcare environment. This role is responsible for call routing, paging services, emergency notifications, schedule maintenance, and administrative support. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced setting. Please note that this is a fully onsite position. Applicants must live in New York or New Jersey and be available to work onsite Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound and outbound telephone communications using the AMCOM Call Center platform in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Route calls to the appropriate departments, staff, and providers while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
  • Initiate and coordinate paging requests through computerized paging systems, long-range radio communications, and overhead paging systems.
  • Monitor communication systems to ensure efficient call handling and message delivery.
  • Operate radio paging equipment in compliance with applicable FCC regulations.
  • Update and maintain paging system configurations, including changes within the Zetron paging platform.
  • Assist with maintaining records related to paging activities and local communication logs.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and operational maintenance of paging equipment and related systems.
  • Support organizational emergency response activities in accordance with established emergency management protocols.
  • Process and communicate emergency notifications, including medical emergencies, fire alerts, bomb threats, and other critical incidents.
  • Follow documented escalation procedures and communication workflows for all emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate records of emergency events and prepare required documentation for reporting purposes.
  • Receive on-call schedules from departments and enter scheduling information into the AMCOM system.
  • Maintain current and accurate on-call records to support evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday operations.
  • Transfer scheduling information to designated employee-accessible platforms and websites as required.
  • Receive and document information transmitted through physician answering services.
  • Enter call information and related details into the AMCOM system for access by after-hours staff and departments.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of data entered into the communication system.
  • Process telephone billing records, charge tickets, and related documentation for departmental call activity.
  • Replace and maintain pager batteries and related communication equipment as needed.
  • Send and distribute Telex communications and route incoming messages to the appropriate recipients.
  • Respond to communications received through TTY devices and support hearing-impaired users when necessary.
  • Assist with clerical, operational, inventory, and message distribution activities as assigned.
  • Receive, document, and route telecommunications-related service issues during off-hours operations.
  • Maintain records of reported problems and ensure information is forwarded to the appropriate support personnel.
  • Follow established procedures for reporting and escalating communication system issues.
