About The Position

The entry‑level telemetry engineer will support the development, integration, and testing of Joint Test Assembly (JTA) telemetry equipment by assisting with engineering drawings, hardware setup, data collection, and routine troubleshooting. Under guidance from senior staff, the engineer will help maintain test software, follow established procedures, and learn how requirements flow into hardware and software designs. This role is designed to build foundational skills in electrical design, test automation, and system verification while contributing to production testing and collaborating with other engineering groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline OR Master's degree in engineering/science discipline OR PhD degree in engineering/science discipline
  • DOE O 426.2A Requirements: Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative. DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment.
  • Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
  • Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
  • If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 709.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents thru ABET Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA).
  • A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) is preferred for up to four years post-graduation, confirmed by transcript at the time of offer. Beyond four years from graduation, relevant experience will supersede GPA in hiring considerations.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA
  • Master's degree with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
  • PhD with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design and development teams to review technical specifications and provide meaningful feedback on system architecture and functionality
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to understand how systems work and assist with troubleshooting tasks
  • Help develop and debug automated test routines using languages such as C#, LabVIEW, or TestStand
  • Support automation efforts by configuring instrumentation and assisting with hardware/software setup
  • Contribute to creating and executing test plans, including writing clear, reusable test cases for hardware and software
  • Document issues found during testing, track them through resolution, and assist with regression testing
  • Provide production support by helping with routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment updates
  • Manage assigned tasks responsibly and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a questioning attitude
