About The Position

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias. This role involves ECG monitoring, arrhythmia recognition, responding to monitor alarms, assisting during emergency situations, and communicating critical findings to the healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have strong ECG interpretation skills, telemetry monitoring experience, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current Telemetry Technician Certification.
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross).
  • Completion of a Dysrhythmia Course.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Telemetry Technician or Monitor Technician.
  • Strong ECG rhythm interpretation and arrhythmia recognition skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias.
  • Perform continuous ECG monitoring and strip analysis.
  • Identify and respond to life-threatening rhythm changes.
  • Initiate emergency response procedures when required.
  • Record and document cardiac rhythms during emergency events.
  • Perform electrocardiograms with proper electrode placement.
  • Troubleshoot telemetry monitoring equipment.
  • Enter and verify physician orders in computer systems.
  • Retrieve and communicate laboratory results to nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and patient safety standards.
  • Operate monitoring and medical equipment safely and effectively.
