About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician helps support patient care by continuously monitoring assigned cardiac monitors, identifying rhythms and artifacts, and responding promptly and appropriately to alarms. The position is per diem/PRN, with 12-hour day shifts, in Pensacola, Florida. Compensation is $23.50 per hour. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and notes that strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of starting in the position.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry tech only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
• Verify identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifacts.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
