About The Position

ThedaCare is seeking a Telemetry Technician for the ICU at Appleton Hospital. This is a 22-bed, fast-paced, general medical/surgical/cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The role involves performing continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms from a centralized telemetry department, skillfully recognizing and interpreting these rhythms, and completing documentation per policy and department standards. The technician will effectively communicate rhythm interpretations to the care team, provide customer service, assist in daily department workflow, and collaborate with biomedical and information services to maintain and troubleshoot electronic monitoring equipment. Daily inventory and cleaning of telemetry monitoring boxes are also required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred
• Must be 18 years of age
• Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
• Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
• Use of computers throughout the work day
• Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
• Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.

Responsibilities

• Performs continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms from a centralized telemetry department.
• Skillfully recognizes and interprets cardiac rhythms.
• Completes measurement and documentation per policy and department standards.
• Effectively communicates with members of the care team regarding the rhythm interpretation.
• Provides customer service including responding to frequent and potentially complex questions from internal and external customers in a timely, positive, and professional manner.
• Assists in supporting daily department workflow through effective coordination, communication, and prioritization of department activities.
• Collaborates with biomedical and information services to maintain and troubleshoot electronic monitoring equipment.
• Performs daily inventory and cleaning of telemetry monitoring boxes.
