About The Position

Reports to and is under the general supervision of the Manager and/or Assistant Manager of MS7, the Telemetry Technician monitors cardiac rhythms, records pertinent data and reports abnormalities to the medical team.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a telemetry technician program with proof of certificate or equivalent documentation.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Connecticut Children’s Cardiac Monitor Technician Training within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year of related job experience working in a telemetry role.
  • Basic familiarity with computers.
  • Experience navigating basic level web-based applications and Microsoft Office.
  • CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is preferred at time of hire.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training certification required within 3 months of hire and maintained thereafter.
  • Ability to learn basic medical terminology, mathematics and measurements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to communicate in English is required.
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Learn and follow established protocols.
  • Learn and demonstrate competency in reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in cardiac telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Based on orders placed by physicians and under supervision of registered nurses, the telemetry technician is responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms, recording pertinent data, and reporting abnormalities to the medical team in accordance with established protocols.
  • Applies knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with coworkers, patients, and family members.
  • Demonstrate support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with Connecticut Children’s standards.
  • Understand and follow Connecticut Children's policies and procedures.
