About The Position

The Telemetry Technician provides ongoing observation and interpretation of cardiac rhythms; prepares and maintains telemetry records and maintains a functioning telemetry system.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competence working with patients is preferred.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and follow direction.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to needs of patients, families, peers and professional staff.
  • Demonstrates continuous application of proper body mechanics.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret cardiac rhythms.
  • Demonstrates basic computer skills
  • Must display proper telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

  • Observes and interprets cardiac rhythms.
  • Records ECG strips at designated intervals and as changes occur.
  • Prints cardiac rhythm strips as needed.
  • Notifies RN of all changes in rhythm and heart rate.
  • Maintains telemetry records.
  • Ensures proper functioning of telemetry system.
  • Trouble shoots equipment problems.
  • Updates Communication Board.
  • Communicates with internal/external customers/colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathic, and professional manner.
  • Displays excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Speaks to everyone.
  • Always communicates with care.
  • Speaks calmly, clearly, and courteously.
  • Stops and listens when a customer/colleague speaks.
  • Communicates consistently with colleagues in a professional and respectful manner and accepts assignments willingly.
