About The Position

Performs technical and patient care tasks, including continuous observation, interpretation, recording, and communication of cardiac rhythms of monitored patients across various age groups to the Registered Nurse and physician. Evening and night shift hires will perform EKGs during the absence of the Central EKG Telemetry Specialist for breaks, meals, or sick leaves not covered by part-time or per diem specialists. Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and staff both orally and in writing.
  • Monitor Tech or fluent with Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation.
  • Six months prior patient care experience
  • Successful completion of course in cardiac arrhythmia interpretation (ECG Fundamentals & Basic Dysrhythmias: Part 1- A&P and ECG) with course completion certificate required.
  • Successful test grade required after completion of advanced ECG interpretation class in order to remain in telemetry tech position.
  • BLS certification current and ongoing.
  • EKG competency within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • When assigned as runner, walking and standing most of the day and may require bending, reaching, squatting.
  • Reaches for, lifts and carries light to moderately heavy supplies.
  • Visual acuity and color discrimination is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to comprehend conversation.
  • Capable of working assigned hours at varied times during the day or night.
  • Alertness required during all phases of work.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing assistant, Pre-Nursing or Nursing Student (with completed A&P courses), EMT, or Paramedic preferred.
  • Completion of Garnet Health Telemetry Tech Training and Education Program required if no experience
