About The Position

As a Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech you will perform clerical and receptionist duties and observe the cardiac monitors within a specific nursing unit. You will transcribe physician orders and perform computer activities, consistent with the Mission of MercyOne, Vision of Patient Care Services, evidence-based standards of care, and established policies and procedures.

Requirements

Clerical skills and ability to effectively utilize written and oral communications.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to interpret cardiac rhythm and operate monitor equipment.
Must be 17 years of age. May be required to be 18 years of age in some areas.
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every year thereafter.

Nice To Haves

All Certified Nursing Assistants are encouraged to belong to the National Nursing Aide Registry. In certain areas, participation in the registry is required.

Responsibilities

Performs clerical and receptionist duties.
Observes the cardiac monitors within a specific nursing unit.
Transcribes physician orders.
Performs computer activities.
Records and reports information such as vital signs, intake and output, weight, and any behavioral changes to appropriate supervisory personnel.
Maintains, assembles, and organizes equipment needed for a safe secure environment.
Performs additional duties as requested such as transporting patients and obtaining medications, supplies, and medical records from other departments.
Demonstrates a caring practice by respecting the rights of an individual or group.
