About The Position

The Telemetry Monitor Technician is responsible for the setup and use of telemetry monitoring equipment. This role involves collecting, reporting, and documenting patient information (rhythms/rate) accurately and timely. The technician will identify and report abnormalities, initiate actions for continuity of care, and process patient admissions and discharges. They will notify the primary RN of any changes in the patient's monitor view and communicate perceived risks to patient safety to co-workers, nurses, and physicians. The technician serves as a patient advocate and assists with documentation to meet hospital and regulatory requirements, working in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers, and other disciplines.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Basic understanding/ability to learn medical terminology

Nice To Haves

1 year of telemetry monitoring experience strongly preferred
GE Monitor experience highly preferred
Acute experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

Demonstrates competency in the set up and use of the telemetry monitoring equipment.
Collects, reports, and documents patient information (rhythms/rate) timely and accurately.
Seeks assistance, supervision, or consultation when unsure of rhythm(s) identification.
Distinguishes and reports abnormalities and initiates action to provide continuity of care.
Processes admission and discharge or patients in system promptly. Prepares monitor for next patient admission.
Notifies patient’s primary RN promptly of any changes in patient’s monitor view.
Communicates promptly of perceived risks specific to patient safety or immediate need for assistance to co-workers, nurses, and physicians/providers.
Serves as a patient advocate.
Assists with documentation that supports and meets hospital and regulatory requirements.
Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers, and all other disciplines.
