About The Position

Texas Health Rockwall is seeking a dedicated Telemetry Monitor Technician to join their full-time night shift team. This role is crucial in supporting the Telemetry Monitoring Department, known for its supportive team environment, staff longevity, and high patient experience scores. The technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining telemetry monitoring equipment, accurately collecting and documenting patient rhythm and rate information, and promptly reporting any abnormalities or changes to the nursing staff and physicians. This position also involves patient advocacy, assisting with documentation, and collaborating with various healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care and safety. The department emphasizes a Professional Practice Model philosophy, fostering partnerships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Basic understanding/ability to learn medical terminology

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac telemetry experience is preferred
  • 1 year of telemetry monitoring experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency in the set up and use of the telemetry monitoring equipment.
  • Collects, reports, and documents patient information (rhythms/rate) timely and accurately.
  • Seeks assistance, supervision, or consultation when unsure of rhythm(s) identification.
  • Distinguishes and reports abnormalities and initiates action to provide continuity of care.
  • Processes admission and discharge or patients in system promptly. Prepares monitor for next patient admission.
  • Notifies patient’s primary RN promptly of any changes in patient’s monitor view.
  • Communicates promptly of perceived risks specific to patient safety or immediate need for assistance to co-workers, nurses, and physicians/providers.
  • Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Assists with documentation that supports and meets hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers, and all other disciplines.
