About The Position

Avion Solutions Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Telemetry Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This position is located in Huntsville, AL. The role involves supporting the MDA Targets and Countermeasures (TC) program office in developing ballistic missile target vehicles and assisting the TC System Engineering team in all aspects of target design, analysis, and test. This includes requirements development and assessment, modeling and simulation, and test analysis and reporting. The engineer will utilize knowledge of missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) and engineering principles to support engineering activities and data product development, with a technical focus on vehicle telemetry and mission analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Java, C#, and other programming languages.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoW security clearance.
• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes.
• Experience supporting MDA and/or DoD test events.
• Experience with telemetry systems and data processing.
• Experience in any or all of the following disciplines: Design, CAD, Trajectory, Radar Cross Section (RCS) Signatures, Optical Signatures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks.
• Ability to communicate detailed technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.

Responsibilities

• Support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures (TC) program office in developing ballistic missile target vehicles.
• Support the TC System Engineering team in all aspects of target design, analysis, and test, including requirements development and assessment, modeling and simulation, test analysis and reporting.
• Utilize knowledge, skills, and experience with missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) and engineering to support engineering activities and data product development.
• Configure and operate telemetry data acquisition equipment during test events.
• Perform vehicle telemetry data decommutation, reduction, conversions, etc.
• Generate target vehicle visualizations, situational awareness displays, and reports/briefings.
• Support mission planning, analysis, and reporting activities.
• Collaborate with a dynamic team of experts in multiple technical areas to develop analysis and engineering tools.
• Other duties as assigned.
