About The Position

OCL Group Inc. (OCL) is a privately-held, employee-owned Canadian company providing integrated general contracting and design-build solutions across Western Canada. Since 2009, OCL has served the industrial, heavy civil, oil and gas, and mining industries with reliable and quality construction services. Their Fabrication shop specializes in the design and fabrication of pressure piping, fittings, and vessels, utilizing a wide range of alloy materials and specialized fabrication and welding processes. OCL combines engineering and manufacturing expertise to deliver customized solutions for their clients. This role is for an experienced and safety-conscious Telehandler Operator to join their Fabrication shop team in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Requirements

  • Valid Telehandler/Forklift Certification
  • Previous experience operating telehandlers in construction, industrial or live-plant environments
  • Strong understanding of load charts and safe lifting practices
  • Physically capable of working in demanding environments
  • Excellent situational awareness and hazard recognition
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Mechanical aptitude for identifying equipment issues
  • Must have valid safety tickets (CSTS-2020, WHMIS 2015,)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Operate telehandler safety and efficiently to lift, move, position, and place materials at varying heights and distances
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and basic maintenance (fluids, tires, attachments)
  • Select and properly install approved attachments (forks, buckets, man baskets, etc.) as required
  • Interpret load charts and ensure lifts are within rated capacities
  • Communicate effectively and clearly with ground personnel
  • Follow site-specific safety procedures, lift plans and manufacturer operating guidelines
  • Maintain clear work zone and ensure safe travel paths
  • Assist with material staging, loading/unloading trucks and jobsite organization
  • Identify and report mechanical issues, hazards or unsafe conditions immediately
  • Work in coordination with other equipment operators, trades and supervisors
  • Comply with all company, client and regulatory safety standards
