About The Position

The Telecommunications Mechanic I is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, testing, and support of telecommunications and network cabling systems. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of ISP/OSP installation experience. The position involves working with U.S. Air Force structures, understanding structured cabling systems, and performing various installation and testing tasks. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, working in various environments, and operating tools and equipment. The work environment includes telecommunications rooms, data centers, warehouses, and active operational facilities, with potential exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels. The role requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety and security procedures.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
2-4 years of ISP/OSP installation experience
OSHA safety training
Experience working with U.S. Air Force structure (preferred)
Knowledge of structured cabling systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and physical layer network
Ability to conduct site surveys and assess telecommunications infrastructure requirements
Basic understanding of power requirements and the ability to perform rudimentary power estimations
Experience with Fiber Optic Cabling and performing the test set to identify as well as mark for use
Experience using test equipment to measure the amperage usage and circuits on panels
