About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Telecommunication Technician II for the North of Las Vegas, NV region. This role involves installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing fire and security alarms, access control systems, and associated equipment. The technician will work with various control panels and devices from brands like Fire-lite, Advantor, lnfographics, Wells Fargo, MDI, and Pyrotronics. This position is covered by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Availability to work overtime as required.
  • Normal color vision and freedom from fear of heights and confined spaces.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office products and use of computer-based time keeping programs.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government Top-Secret security clearance and access to the work location.
  • F-card issued by Nevada State Fire Marshall's office.
  • OSHA-10 card.
  • Construction Industry CPR/First-Aid card.
  • Pass pre-hire drug screening and Fit-for-Duty physical.
  • Ability to work in a remote location with limited medical personnel and facilities.
  • Must bring: Social Security Card, original state issued birth certificate or Naturalization Certificate and valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and database management software.
  • Ability to perform alarm panel programming and downloads.
  • Ability to pass respirator physical/fit-test and wear respirator if required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire and security alarms, access control systems, and associated equipment such as control panels, smoke/heat detectors, door contacts, motion sensors, card readers, temperature alert sensors, and glass break detectors.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, design and layout systems, create databases, install cabling, mount and wire controls and peripherals.
  • Perform onboard programming or downloads for some panels.
  • Establish and maintain communication links by point-to-point modems and/or LANs.
  • Perform scheduled PMl's of all systems, to include database and software upgrades.
  • Use ladders, man lifts, scissor lifts, hand & power tools, and soldering equipment for circuit board repairs.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Comply with all Safety and environmental regulations and practices.
  • Research, specify, and order materials.
  • Perform safety and quality assurance duties as outlined in company policies.
