About The Position
AMATechTel, the area's leading telecommunications company, is looking for a self-motivated individual to join our team as a Telecom Technician in Amarillo. The Telecom Technician will install and maintain data and telephone services for our customers.
Requirements
- Basic wiring knowledge (568A/B, cross over cable, multi pair, T1, RJ45 Patch panel, 66 block,and 110 panel terminating)
- Strong understanding of IP telephony protocols, LAN/WAN connectivity, and low-voltage infrastructure
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools, punch-down tools, and tone generators
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, routing/switching, subnets, and diagnostic tools like ping or traceroute
- Run, pull, splice, and terminate low-voltage category cables, fiber optics, or legacy POTS lines
- Ability to work independently and manage and maintain company vehicles
- Ability to climb ladders up to 12 ft., work in tight spaces or at heights, and lift equipment weighing up to 50–75 lbs.

Responsibilities
- Install AMA TechTel's voice and data services
- Troubleshoot VoIP, IP telephony, call routing, voicemail, and phone set issues at customer locations
- Configure local networks for VLANs, DHCP, NAT, firewall rules, and Quality of Service (QoS) for voice prioritization
- Train end-users on phone system features
- Work and resolve active service tickets
- Assist other departments when needed
- Participate in after hours on-call rotation
- Maintain accurate service records
- Manage and track company equipment
