About The Position

The Telecom Technician Lead will participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems and associated processes. This role involves working at assigned locations, which may include offices or project sites, and requires adherence to blueprints and building plans to meet client needs. The lead will oversee subcontractors, coordinate material deliveries, and ensure work is completed according to quality standards. They will also lead apprentices, manage equipment and material availability, and perform installations and testing of various telecommunication systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers.
  • Strict adherence to all safety rules and quality.
  • Participate in site housekeeping.
  • Interact with all co-workers and clients in an attentive courteous manner.
  • High School Diploma.
  • 5 years of field experience, trade school, or apprenticeship.
  • OSHA 10 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems and associated processes.
  • Work at assigned locations, which may include offices or project sites.
  • Follow blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients.
  • Oversee and coordinate any subcontractors work that may be working under the Telecom department.
  • Coordinate equipment and specialty material deliveries and staging requirements.
  • Establish work completion and punch lists in accordance with established Quality Control and Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Ensure the necessary equipment and materials are always available to maximize productivity.
  • Lead helpers or apprentices in appropriate tasks.
  • Install cable supports, through floor and wall sleeves, fire stopping materials.
  • Install relays, cabinets, network switches.
  • Terminate data, voice, coaxial, control, and fiber optic cables.
  • Install cable trays above and below floors.
  • Test cables to TIA/EIA level II standards with cable analyzer and fiber test equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by Management.
  • At times may perform clerical/administrative duties.
