About The Position

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Telecom/SUE Technician to work with our Utility Engineering Team in the locating, mapping, construction monitoring, drafting, design, and permitting of telecommunications and utility projects. This role involves performing site visits, preparing civil-based utility drawings, and occasionally assisting with permits. The company is willing to train the right candidate.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years of relevant experience as a technician
Great attitude, willingness to learn, and a team player
Valid driver's license and be insurable under company insurance
Ability to work outside in a wide variety of weather and terrain conditions
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
This role requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion
Encourages and supports a safety-oriented culture

Nice To Haves

Associates Degree in Pre-engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, etc. or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
Experience in telecommunications, fiber optic, or utility design or construction
Experience in fiber optic, copper, or coax splicing
Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) locating and/or surveying
Familiarity with utility atlases/records and/or GIS programs
Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation or ARAMIS

Responsibilities

Complete site visits including utility locating, GIS mapping, documenting existing conditions, and manhole mapping
Visit construction sites to monitor contractor safety and provide quality control
Observe and document as-built conditions
Provide office support for telecommunications and other utility projects using AutoCAD or other design software
Occasionally travel overnight
