The Telecom Operator is responsible for greeting customers, providing basic facility and location information, and answering and transferring incoming calls promptly and courteously in order of priority. This role involves monitoring various alarms including gas alarms, blood bank temperature, LifeLine alarms, fridge and freezer alarms, door and elevator alarms, security cameras, and emergency codes. The operator will announce and page emergency codes accurately and with expediency, and assist partners with the use of the Language Line, ensuring phones are cleaned after each use. Responsibilities also include replacing patient phones and staff pagers, paging or calling assigned on-call employees and answering service physicians, and receiving, entering, and relaying messages, on-call coverage changes, and page blocks. The role requires maintaining crucial on-call information accurately and timely, making changes in the LifeLine program, updating information lists and databases, and creating department schedules as needed. Additionally, the Telecom Operator will assist the Supervisor and Lead with invoice processing, payments, and reports, check the function of Language Line phones and reprogram as needed, and assist the Supervisor in ordering, programming, and troubleshooting pagers and Spok Mobile. Setting up new users with the IRM and Spok Mobile paging systems is also part of the role.
