Arup's Los Angeles, San Diego, Dallas, Houston, and Austin offices are seeking a Telecom Design Engineer to work as part of a multidisciplinary team engaged in the design and delivery of Information Technology and Communication (ITC), low-voltage systems and infrastructure for Data Centers and a wide variety of building types, including healthcare, arts and culture, aviation, education, retail, and science/technology. The opportunity involves the design of systems including structured cabling, wired and wireless networks, telephony, electronic security systems, controls and general applications of technology to the built environment. The role requires close coordination with electrical, mechanical, structural, and fire/life safety teams, as well as project managers, to deliver fully integrated, resilient, and scalable data center designs. Responsibilities include project delivery of detailed design drawings, systems integration, and specification development. The position also involves participating in local and national mission-critical or data center professional associations to stay current with industry trends, and providing construction phase services such as site visits, submittal review, and RFIs. Additionally, the role requires coordinating with clients and the broader team, and maintaining quality relationships with vendors and external partners. Specific design areas include active networks, RF modeling software, DAS, building automation systems, electronic security systems, and IoT, as well as designing outside plant, campus infrastructure, and wide area network coordination.
