About The Position

Texas Health Telemetry Monitor Technicians require a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, acceptable grooming practices, and ability to function in a fast paced, changing environment. This role is located in the Central Monitor Room at Texas Health Denton, a 255-bed, full-service hospital. The environment is fast-paced and a teaching environment with opportunities for growth. The hospital specializes in various services including Cancer Care, Critical Care, Heart & Vascular Services, and Women & Infants Care. Texas Health Denton is a Joint Commission-accredited Primary (Level II) Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, a Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and a Magnet® designated hospital.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
Basic understanding of medical terminology
1 year direct patient care experience involving telemetry monitoring or completion of educational program which includes telemetry monitoring.
BCLS required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

Responsibilities

Demonstrate competency in the set up and use of the telemetry monitoring equipment.
Collect, report and document patient information (rhythms/rate) timely and accurately.
Distinguish and report abnormalities and initiates action to provide continuity of care.
Ensure admission/dismissals are processed promptly; preparations are made to get the monitor ready for admission.
Communicate promptly of perceived risks specific to patient safety or immediate need for assistance.
Assist with documentation that supports and meets hospital and regulatory requirements.
Documents accurately and appropriately.
