About The Position

The City of Redmond is seeking a Teen Recreation Leader to join their team. This role will involve representing the city and its values while contributing to community building through parks, arts, and recreation. The position focuses on serving Redmond area teens through a variety of programs and services, including after-school drop-in programming, leadership and skill development, and art. The position is supplemental, variable, year-round, working approximately 10-25 hours per week, with potential for some weekend work. Hours are typically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings between 3:30pm – 8pm, and Fridays from 3:30pm – 6pm. The position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week on average and no more than 1,040 hours per year. The primary location is the Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age by starting date
  • Education or training in recreation area directly related to specific position or program
  • Experience in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred
  • Successful passing of a required background check
  • Valid WA State Driver's license required. Accommodations for lack of driver's license may be considered depending on the assignment or circumstances.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Some positions may require special licenses, certifications or training

Responsibilities

  • Support after-school programming that includes life skills programming, games, academic support, sports and fitness, nature, and leadership opportunities for youth and teens.
  • Support youth and teen art and music interests by providing opportunities for them to participate, develop, and share their skills.
  • Inspire teens to create the programming they want to see, and guide teens through the planning, organizational, and program delivery process.
