Teen Center Assistant
About The Position
Coordinates, facilitates, and monitors a variety of educational and recreational activities, events, and trips for the Family Life Center; provides transportation for the youth to all activities, maintains a positive relationship with the parents, teachers, and coaches of the children; provides Christian leadership to the children in order to encourage their spiritual development. Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Six months to one-year experience in youth development work, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Valid State of Georgia Commercial’s Driver’s License (Must meet the guidelines provided by the State of Georgia and the automobile insurance provider as pertaining to fifteen passenger vans.)
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing and lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25lbs.).
Responsibilities
- Promotes, coordinates, and monitors spiritual ministry activities for the Family Life Teen Center on a regular basis to include recreational, entertaining, educational, and/or devotional topics; ensures the needs of the Family Life Center youth are met in an efficient, clean, healthy, and emotionally nurturing manner; ensures proper conduct by the youth during Teen Center activities.
- Provides daily activities for the Family Life Center youths in designated areas according to ministry lesson plan guidelines; provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulations through both inside and outside activities.
- Assists and instructs youth in their academic homework assignments; promotes, leads, and directs youth in the use of the Teen Center computers.
- Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with the Family Life Center youth, their parents, teachers, and coaches; communicates to the Family Life Center Director any concerns about the behavior or well-being of children at risk.
- Coordinates and provides transportation form school as necessary; provides transportation for planned Teen Center trips, athletic practices, and other extra-curricular activities.
- Assists in organizing and conducting weekly Bible Study/Support group meetings for the children and youth; ensures that the youth attend Sunday and/or Wednesday Bible study and band rehearsals as required; provides Christian leadership to the Family Life Center Teen Center youth in order to encourage their spiritual development.
- Select, review, screens and recommends movies, videos, music, and etc. to be used as Family Life Center resources or activities.
- Records and maintains statistical information regarding activities and participants.
- Attends staff meetings upon request.
- Attends planning meetings/seminars as directed by the Family Life Center Director.
- Making sure the Teen center is maintained and clean
- Performs other activities/special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
