About The Position

Under the general supervision of the building principal, the Elementary Technology Teacher is responsible for facilitating student growth in digital literacy and foundational technology skills. This position supports the development of 21st-century learning by delivering age-appropriate technology instruction aligned with district and state standards. The ideal candidate fosters curiosity, creativity, and responsible digital citizenship in a safe and engaging environment. This position may serve students in a variety of instructional settings. Final building and assignment placement will be determined in August based on district needs and enrollment. Placement may include assignment to a parochial school partner location served by Monroe Public Schools.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an appropriate endorsement in Elementary Education.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Instructional Technology, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Endorsements in Educational Technology (NP) or Computer Science (NR) are preferred but not required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Successful prior teaching experience with elementary students is preferred.
  • Experience integrating technology into elementary instruction is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate technology tools and instructional strategies for elementary students.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education, keyboarding programs, coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, Code.org), and digital citizenship curricula (e.g., Common Sense Media).
  • Understanding of differentiated instruction and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, administrators, and families.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and data analysis skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements elementary technology curriculum consistent with Monroe Public Schools' goals and Michigan state standards.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that supports student inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving through the use of technology.
  • Designs and delivers lessons on basic computer skills, keyboarding, digital tools, internet safety, coding, and media literacy appropriate for Young 5s through 4th grade.
  • Differentiates instruction and modifies teaching methods to accommodate diverse learners, including those with special needs.
  • Assesses student progress through formative and summative assessments and uses data to inform instruction.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and instructional staff to integrate technology into core subjects.
  • Encourages and models safe, legal, and ethical use of technology.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with students, families, and staff to support student learning.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees as required.
  • Maintains an organized, safe, and engaging learning space and ensures the proper use and care of technology equipment.
  • Supports district-wide technology initiatives and participates in curriculum alignment efforts.
