About The Position

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, availability, security, and performance of enterprise level technology systems supporting the instructional and business needs of staff and students. This role ensures reliable, safe, and secure access to digital resources and data for staff and students while maintaining compliance with district, state, and federal requirements. This position plays a key role in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of district technology systems and data.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in systems administration, preferably in a K-12 or public sector environment -OR- Equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, and relevant hands-on experience.
  • Servers and Network Attached Storage (NAS) administration (physical and virtual).
  • Identity and access management.
  • Scripting and automation methods and platforms (PowerShell, Bash, or similar).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity polices and best practices for public-sector or educational environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace).
  • Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux Server environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Experience with directory services (Active Directory, Google Admin, or Microsoft Identity).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage assigned workload effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritized workload, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain on-prem and cloud-based systems including servers, storage, virtualization platforms, directory services, and core infrastructure.
  • Manage user accounts, authentication, permissions, and policies for devices, students, and staff.
  • Implement patches, upgrades, and configuration changes to ensure system reliability and security.
  • Support instructional and administrative systems such as LMS, identity management, and productivity platforms.
  • Monitor, support and manage endpoint management and security platforms.
  • Ensure system and district compliance with state, federal, and local policies and laws including FERPA, COPPA, HIPAA (as applicable), and data-privacy requirements.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues and provide technical guidance and mentoring to technology staff and peers.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams on projects, implementations, and support.
  • Assist with technology planning, testing, and deployment initiatives.
  • Enforce cybersecurity standards, policies, and procedures aligned with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Monitor systems for security alerts, vulnerabilities, and indicators of compromise, assist with remediation activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
