Technology Strategy Director

EricssonPlano, TX

About The Position

Ericsson is a world‑leading provider of equipment and services to mobile network operators, with over 1,000 networks in more than 180 countries using Ericsson equipment. In the US, Ericsson is the #1 player with 50%+ market share in wireless networks (RAN), with global headquarters in Stockholm and Americas headquarters in Dallas, TX. At Market Area Americas (MACS), we are driving 5G adoption and preparing for 6G and the next wave of AI‑native, automated networks. We are seeking an experienced, visionary Technology Strategy Director - Network Architecture & Security, to define and drive our long-term architecture and security strategy across RAN, Core and IT/cloud, with a strong focus on growth and TAM expansion, especially in security. In this role you will combine deep understanding of wireless technologies with security and end-to-end network architecture expertise to shape Ericsson’s technology position, unlock new business areas and lead a high-performing team. This role reports to the Head of Technology, Americas.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering (Telecom, Electrical, Computer Science, or related); MS and/or MBA preferred, plus 10+ years of ICT experience with a strong focus on wireless networks and technology strategy.
  • Deep understanding of wireless technology and E2E network architecture, including RAN, core networks, transport/IP, and cloud/IT, with proven experience designing, evolving, or governing large‑scale architectures for CSPs or comparable operators.
  • Demonstrated experience with telecom or cloud security concepts, architectures and standards, and the ability to turn technology, market and security insights into clear strategies, roadmaps and recommendations for senior stakeholders, connecting decisions to business value, growth and TAM expansion.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience building multi‑disciplinary teams, setting direction across multiple workstreams, developing talent, and effectively communicating technology and strategy points of view to senior customer executives.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end‑to‑end (E2E) network architecture vision for MACS across RAN, transport, core, and IT/cloud, defining scalable blueprints that enable growth, cost efficiency, and differentiated performance.
  • Define and drive a MACS-wide security strategy, anchored in relevant standards and regulations, positioning security as a key growth and TAM expansion area, and represent Ericsson’s views with senior customers and in relevant standards and industry bodies (e.g., 3GPP, ORAN, TM Forum).
  • Identify and shape security- and architecture-led business opportunities (e.g., security services, secure network capabilities, managed offerings), using data (customer insights, market research, competitive intelligence) to build clear, data-driven strategies and business cases.
  • Equip pre-sales and delivery teams with concise architecture and security guidance and value propositions for key deals and network evolution programs, while building, leading and developing a high-performing Technology Strategy team in close collaboration with MACS Domains, CUs, Strategy, Security and Business Areas.
  • Align architecture and technology choices across domains (RAN, core, transport, cloud, security, IT) and with global Technology Strategy and BAs so MACS requirements are reflected in portfolio and roadmap decisions.
