About The Position

Are you passionate about bridging the gap between field operations and digital innovation? Waste Services is looking for a Technology Program Lead to champion the modernization of our collection fleet. In this role, you will be the driving force behind the implementation and optimization of in-truck digital technologies that keep our City running smoothly and sustainably.

Requirements

Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field
Minimum three (3) years of experience in a technical support or IT-related role, ideally within a field operations environment
Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues
Experience managing and coordinating with external service providers and vendors
Demonstrated experience in training and supporting end-users on new technology solutions
Understanding of data management principles and experience with data analysis tools
In-depth knowledge of specialized systems such as tablets, RFID readers, cameras, and DVRs
Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical disruptions in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills to build mutually beneficial relationships with crews, vendors, and partners
Self-motivated with the ability to work under limited supervision and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to stay current with evolving technology and learn new systems quickly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively negotiate and resolve conflict
Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

Responsibilities

Contribute to the development and implementation of a digitalization strategy for Waste Collections
Oversee the procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of in-truck technology and asset management software
Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors and internal collaborators to coordinate repairs and system enhancements
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide ongoing support to field and management staff
Design and deliver engaging training materials and workshops to ensure high user adoption and competency
Monitor technology performance and identify opportunities for system optimization and improvement
Manage program budgets, track expenses, and reconcile vendor invoices to ensure cost-efficiency
