About The Position

At Medtronic you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world. A Day in the Life The Technology Platform Strategy Consultant is responsible for defining and leading the long-term technology platform strategy for the LINQ implantable cardiac monitoring platform as it expands across multiple markets. This role co-owns the technology roadmap and platform strategy, ensuring that a single hardware platform continues to meet the shared and divergent needs of all markets over time. This individual partners closely with the Technology Platform Strategy team, Product Strategy Leads, Systems Engineering, R&T, R&D, and Finance to translate unmet needs and voice of customer (VOC) insights into clear, prioritized hardware roadmap decisions - including timing, investment rationale, and business case. Success requires strong strategic judgment, willingness to challenge assumptions, and comfort navigating tradeoffs across markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in technology strategy, platform strategy, systems strategy, or upstream product planning
  • Experience collecting VOC through market research or direct customer engagements
  • Experience working with complex, multi-market platforms
  • Experience translating customer requirements into technical requirements
  • Strong financial, analytical, and strategic thinking skills
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and challenge assumptions constructively

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with implantable or regulated medical technologies
  • Background in platform or systems strategy
  • Experience bridging consumer and medical product domains
  • Familiarity with wafer-scale, sensing, or long-lifecycle hardware platforms
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Technology Platform & Roadmap Leadership Co-own the technology roadmap for the LINQ platform with a focus on unmet needs across all markets, opportunity sizing, cadence/timing, and business case. Deliver a 10-year technology platform strategy, including the hardware evolution roadmap and ecosystem strategy. Ensure the platform roadmap reflects shared opportunities across markets—not point solutions for a single segment.
  • Unmet Needs, VOC & Strategy Governance Lead unmet needs research and VOC efforts in partnership with Product Strategy Leads. Translate segment needs into platform-level requirements and decision frameworks. Develop and lead strategy governance for unmet needs across business segments to drive consistent prioritization, transparent tradeoffs, and alignment between strategy, technology, and investment decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence Serve as a strategic partner to Product Strategy, Systems Engineering, R&T, R&D, and Finance/Portfolio teams. Communicate customer/segment requirements to technical teams and facilitate exploration of solution options (e.g., recharge, packaging, chemistry, architecture changes). Challenge assumptions and advocate for platform-first decisions that maximize long-term value and scalability.
  • Financial & Strategic Analysis Lead financial analysis and business case development for platform investments. Evaluate tradeoffs between near-term market needs and long-term platform optionality. Support leadership decision-making with clear, data-driven recommendations.
  • Technology Platform Team Support Provide strategic leadership and direction to the broader Technology Platform team. Ensure alignment across upstream strategy, technical execution, and portfolio planning.
