About The Position

This is a part-time Technology Internship position for the 26/27 school year, requiring 20 hours per week. The intern will work under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology, providing technical assistance for district-wide technology including networks, hardware, and software. The role involves in-person and telephone support to minimize downtime and enhance student and staff productivity across three core school buildings and three support buildings on the same campus. Responsibilities include maintaining and developing technical documentation, conducting staff training sessions, researching and installing appropriate software/hardware, assisting with inventory management, imaging, software licensing, and help desk tickets. The intern will troubleshoot and support PC and Apple hardware, servers, printers, and peripherals, as well as the district's network infrastructure (wireless connections, switches, hubs, wiring, and connectors). The position also involves responding to Help Desk inquiries, preparing various reports and documentation, managing special IT projects, and performing other duties as assigned by the Director of I.T.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information and data.
  • Strong customer service skills and understanding of business telephone etiquette required.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
  • Travel between district locations utilizing personal vehicle.
  • COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance supporting district-wide technology relating to networks, hardware, and software via in-person / telephone support to ensure minimal down time and improve student and staff productivity.
  • Provides technical support for users across the district's 3 core school buildings and 3 support buildings.
  • Maintain and develop, when necessary, technical documentation for the purpose of providing instruction and reference.
  • Provide staff training sessions.
  • Researches and recommends appropriate software or hardware for users' needs; installs software and updates.
  • Assist in maintaining and supporting district inventory, imaging, software licensing, help desk tickets
  • Effectively troubleshoots and supports PC and Apple hardware, servers, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Provide support for District's Network infrastructure - i.e. wireless connections, switches, hubs, new wire installation, termination of RJ-45 connectors and CAT 5e/6 connections
  • Receives and responds to Help Desk inquiries from staff members regarding technology problems.
  • Prepares and/or submits various other records and reports, computer manuals, monthly reports, analytical/diagnostic reports, training materials, inventory lists, spreadsheet, logs, work schedules, memos, correspondence, etc.
  • Manages special projects related to information technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of I.T.
