About The Position

About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director to lead Solutions Architecture and GenAI Architecture function within WIM. This role will establish and scale a new Solutions Architecture practice that partners closely with the application delivery teams providing hands-on architectural leadership for priority initiatives while accelerating GenAI adoption through standardized patterns, reference architectures, and reusable capabilities. The director of Solutions Architecture will lead a team of Solutions Architects, set the strategic direction for solution-level and GenAI Architecture, and partner closely with Portfolio Architecture, Product, Engineering, and Platform teams to improve delivery speed, reduce risk and technical debt, and ensure alignment to WIMT and enterprise architectural standards. In this role, you will: Lead and scale a Solutions Architecture team aligned to WIMT’s highest-priority initiatives, providing hands-on architectural leadership embedded with application development teams. Define and evolve solution-level and GenAI architecture strategy, including reference architectures, patterns, guardrails, and reusable assets in partnership with Portfolio Architecture. Drive GenAI architecture adoption, ensuring solutions are secure, compliant, observable, and production-ready while accelerating responsible innovation Partner with Product, Engineering, Platform, and Enterprise Architecture to guide actionable roadmaps that align business outcomes, technology strategy, and delivery execution. Provide architectural oversight focused on delivery risk mitigation, including design quality, security, resilience, scalability, and operational readiness Establish lightweight governance that enables speed while ensuring adherence to enterprise standards, regulatory expectations, and risk management requirements. Identify opportunities to standardize and rationalize solutions designs, reducing one-off implementations and technical debt across WIMT. Manage allocation of people and financial resources to the Solutions Architecture function, aligning capacity to strategic priorities Build and sustain strong executive relationships, influence technology and investment decisions at senior levels Develop and execute talent strategies for Solutions and GenAI Architects, including hiring, coaching, and career development Foster a culture of engineering partnership, innovation, and accountability that measurably improves delivery outcomes.

Requirements

• 10+ years of technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
• 4+ years of management or leadership experience
• 4+ years of people leadership experience, including leading senior technologist or architecture teams
• 4+ years proven experience leading solutions architecture for complex, large-scale technology initiatives

Nice To Haves

• Experience designing and governing GenAI or AI-enabled solutions, including model integration, data considerations, security, observability, and responsible AI practices
• Strong background in modern application architectures (cloud-native, APIs, event-driven systems, distributed platforms)
• Experience establishing or scaling a solutions architecture practice embedded within product or engineering organizations
• Financial services experience with an understanding of regulatory, risk, and compliance considerations
• Demonstrated ability to partner with application development teams to influence design and delivery outcomes
• Ability to translate emerging technologies into practical, repeatable solution patterns that accelerate delivery
