About The Position

The Information Technology (IT) Solution Architect position at the City of Tucson’s Information Technology Department designs, builds, and maintains IT architectures, enterprise standards, and modular solution designs for city leadership and IT audiences to meet existing and future city goals. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology. This position does not supervise.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: Five (5) years of relevant experience
  • A valid and unrestricted driver’s license with two (2) years of licensed driving is required.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Architect or The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) certifications must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire or prior to the completion of the probationary period and must be maintained throughout employment in this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Information Technology Architecture.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business, Engineering, Operations, or relevant applied analytical / sciences field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in IT Architecture and two (2) additional years working in IT.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and designs Information Technology (IT) architecture solutions that meet business requirements, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.
  • Provides assessments of business needs and models through visualization, refines solutions using models and views, designs and architects viable detailed solution(s) for management buy in, projects and programs to execute against.
  • Consultant for implementing solutions to plans and needs with project managers, business owners, and subject matter experts implementing new solutions, monitoring adherence to plan and risks.
  • Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining complex technical concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Assists in visualizing business architecture, may provide some guidance or context to ensure leaders are informed on how solutions enable requested future operating model.
  • Ensures that solutions comply with industry standards, regulations, and security best practices.
  • Enforces and manages standards and governance for IT solutions in City’s technical environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Stays updated on trends and technologies, and the architecture domain.
