About The Position

Trexquant is seeking an early-career technology transactions attorney to focus on agreements related to research, trading, and operational infrastructure. This role involves data licensing, technology procurement, and related commercial matters. The attorney will collaborate directly with alpha researchers, data scientists, and software engineers, and work closely with senior counsel on intellectual property, AI, privacy, securities regulation, and other legal functions.

Requirements

• JD; admitted to practice in NY (or eligible for in-house registration).
• 1–3 years of relevant experience at a law firm, in-house at a financial services or technology company, or a combination.
• Demonstrated drafting and negotiation skill in commercial technology contracts, with a focus or strong interest in data and technology transactions.
• Familiarity with one or more of: market and exchange data licensing, SaaS and cloud agreements, trade secrets protection, and IP licensing.
• Strong commercial judgment.
• Comfort working directly with business and research colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate data licensing agreements for market and alternative data, focusing on commercial terms, usage rights, derived data, user obligations, audit, and exit options.
• Lead technology procurement contracting, including SaaS, cloud and data center agreements, software licenses, and professional services.
• Assist in developing and maintaining templates, playbooks, intake processes, and contract tracking to manage a high-volume workload.
• Manage the NDA program and intellectual property terms in commercial agreements, covering derived data, open source, and AI use compliance.
• Support senior counsel on ad hoc corporate matters as capacity allows, with potential exposure to a wide range of legal work at an algorithmic trading firm.
