The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a highly motivated technology commercialization manager to join the APL's Legal and Commercialization Branch. This role involves managing and licensing a portfolio of engineering, scientific, information processing, and other technology-focused intellectual property by analyzing, recommending, and implementing IP protection and transfer/transition strategies. The primary responsibility is to work closely with APL innovators, leadership, and fellow technology commercialization managers to assess, market, and license APL intellectual property to industry and other non-governmental organizations. This includes negotiating directly with licensees to close high-impact license agreements and supporting efforts to facilitate the creation of new technology start-up companies licensing APL IP. The role also involves cradle-to-grave IP portfolio management for technologies in the engineering and physical science domains, performing research and analysis on strategic patenting trends, innovation commercial viability, technology landscapes, and technology transfer best practices. Additionally, the manager will leverage engagement with industry and the investment community, coordinate with APL patent counsel for IP protection, and manage the portfolio to align with APL strategic objectives.
