About The Position

The Technology Architect III – High Performance Computing role drives the design and evolution of a high-performance computing environment that enables advanced research, analytics, and AI innovation. The position operates at a deep technical, system level—shaping scalable architecture, optimizing performance, and partnering across infrastructure teams to support mission-critical scientific discovery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced education preferred.
  • Strong background in high-performance computing environments, including cluster design and operations.
  • Advanced Linux administration experience, including Red Hat–based systems.
  • Experience with job scheduling and workload management platforms (e.g., Slurm or equivalent).
  • Systems-level thinking with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into scalable architecture.
  • Strong analytical and optimization mindset to maximize performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborative partnership across infrastructure, engineering, and operations stakeholders.
  • Clear technical communication and documentation to influence architecture decisions and standards.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms, distributed systems, and modern compute architectures

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the technical vision and architecture for a next-generation high-performance computing (HPC) environment.
  • Design system-level solutions that optimize performance, scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Support research computing workloads, including advanced analytics, simulation, and AI/ML pipelines.
  • Architect Linux-based HPC platforms, clusters, and supporting services with enterprise-grade resilience.
  • Evaluate and integrate cloud resources to extend or hybridize HPC capabilities when appropriate.
  • Optimize compute, storage, networking, and scheduler performance based on workload characteristics.
  • Partner with networking, facilities, data center, storage, and cloud teams to align infrastructure design and execution.
  • Establish standards, documentation, and operational practices for HPC hybrid platforms and lifecycle management.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex architecture decisions, tradeoffs, and roadmap planning.
