About The Position

The Technology Apprentice Program at The Cigna Group is a full-time, 16-week immersive experience designed to cultivate future technical talent in the software engineering and application development space. Through real-world projects, collaborative engagement, and guided development, apprentices will grow their skills, build lasting connections, and confidently launch their careers in technology. The program includes a comprehensive onboarding experience, development workshops, trainings, and continued education options. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience solving real-world challenges, deepen their technical skills, and work alongside experienced software and/or application developers to build, test, and maintain applications.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Associate’s degree in software development, computer science, or a related technology field OR Graduation from a technical bootcamp focused on full-stack development, front-end/back-end engineering, or app development OR Completion of a recognized technical certification from a recognized technical organization/institution (e.g., AWS, Microsoft, Oracle) with hands-on experience applying those skills in real-world projects.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, JavaScript, .NET, Kotlin, Typescript, C#, Python, Go.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, version control systems (Git) and basic debugging techniques.
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts (variables, loops, functions).
  • Familiarity with web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Must be available to work a 40-hour work week.
  • Must be eligible for employment in the United States and not require visa support now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agile methodologies, team-based development, or open-source contributions is a plus.
