About The Position

The American Action Forum (AAF) is a forward-looking, non-profit policy institute dedicated to promoting common-sense, innovative, and solutions-based policies. As a unique, fast-paced "action" tank, AAF uses modern communication tools to deploy ideas, engage Americans in policy debates, and educate the media. This internship focuses on technology and innovation policy, offering hands-on experience in research, event support, and policy analysis within a dynamic think tank environment.

Requirements

  • Excellent writing ability and communication skills.
  • An interest in the politics and policies of center-right conservatives.
  • Demonstrated interest in technology issues.
  • Self-starting attitude.
  • Strong quantitative skills are highly desired.
  • Experience conducting legal research with databases such as WestLaw or Lexis.
  • Must be available to work 20 to 29 hours per week in our DC office.
  • Must use own computer/equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide research assistance and data collection for the issue area director.
  • Attend Capitol Hill hearings, private speaker events, and events held by other DC think tanks to analyze and report on the information presented.
  • Help promote, run, and evaluate all Forum events.
  • Create a portfolio of work completed at the Forum and give a brief presentation on a topic of choice.
