The newly selected Technology Analyst will be responsible for advanced technical work that supports the maintenance and operation of the Public Works information technology and systems. Supporting each of the five Public Works divisions with software deployments, designing and implementing automated workflows, advanced network troubleshooting, and equipment allocation and tracking.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent recognized certification.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team or alone, per assignment.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a technology analyst or in a closely related field, including developing, maintaining, and managing computer hardware, software, and equipment; experience with project management and implementation of enterprise applications and cloud-based systems; and familiarity with Public Works-related CMMS and asset management systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and certifications
  • Completion of required Public Works or County technology training programs within the assigned timeframe, or demonstration of equivalent training and proficiency.
  • Ability to work on-call as necessary to support critical infrastructure.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
  • Ability to deploy, configure, and support computers, mobile devices, and field technology in both office and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues independently, including networking, software, and hardware problems.
  • Ability to travel to field sites, remote facilities, and Public Works operational areas as required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others.
  • Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
  • Must be able to operate a computer.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate software deployments, updates, and integrations with Public Works leadership and county IT.
  • Provide advanced technical support for Public Works information systems, including desktops, laptops, tablets, rugged field devices, and mobile platforms.
  • Deliver high-quality technical assistance to Public Works staff, ensuring prompt resolution of help desk tickets.
  • Install, configure, and maintain departmental software, including Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) modules, and asset management tools, whether third-party or in-house.
  • Support GIS data workflows, including database maintenance, documentation updates, and integration with CMMS and asset management systems.
  • Configure and support APIs, web services, and data exchange processes to enable seamless communication between platforms.
  • Design and implement automated workflows, scripts, and tools to streamline repetitive tasks, improve data accuracy, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Deploy and configure new and reallocated computers and mobile devices as instructed.
  • Coordinate the relocation and reallocation of computer equipment.
  • Assist with inventory management of all tagged and untagged assets.
  • Set up and support computer peripherals, troubleshoot, and resolve networking issues, including connectivity problems.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions following established guidelines.
  • Perform advanced network troubleshooting, providing on-site support when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to cybersecurity best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Offer training on IT-related topics to individuals or small groups, as directed.
  • Collaborate with Public Works divisions, county IT, and external vendors to coordinate technology needs.
  • Assess emerging technologies and recommend improvements for field operations, asset management, and digital workflows.
  • Assist in developing and refining departmental IT policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a full-time presence on the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
