About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join the Toxicology Department in San Antonio, TX. The work schedule is Tuesday–Saturday, with the possibility of rotating Mondays as needed. The start time is 7:00 a.m., and the end time may vary based on workload and operational needs. Overtime is minimal and typically averages fewer than 10 hours per pay period. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Science, Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • One (1) year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) degree
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • 2 or more years of experience performing toxicology and/or chemistry testing in a clinical or laboratory setting.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex toxicology testing procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed
  • Assist with specimen processing when required
  • Maintain a safe work environment and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
