About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Technologist-Polysomnographic to join our sleep medicine team in Novi, United States. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive polysomnographic studies, monitoring patients throughout the night, and ensuring accurate data collection for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. You will work in a fast-paced clinical environment where precision, efficiency, and patient care are paramount.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in operating polysomnographic equipment and software systems
  • Strong knowledge of sleep study protocols and polysomnographic procedures
  • Ability to accurately place and monitor EEG, EOG, and EMG electrodes
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Solid understanding of sleep disorders, sleep stages, and normal versus abnormal sleep patterns
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical documentation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety protocols in clinical settings
  • Ability to work independently during overnight shifts while maintaining focus and accuracy
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Familiarity with AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) standards and guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) certification
  • Prior experience working in a sleep laboratory or clinical setting
  • CPR certification
  • Experience with multiple polysomnography systems and equipment brands

Responsibilities

  • Perform polysomnographic studies by applying and monitoring EEG, EOG, and EMG electrodes according to established protocols and AASM standards
  • Operate and troubleshoot polysomnographic equipment to ensure optimal functionality and data quality throughout sleep studies
  • Monitor patients during overnight studies, observing vital signs, sleep stages, and any abnormal events or behaviors
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all study data, patient observations, and equipment performance in electronic health records
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the study process while maintaining a professional and reassuring demeanor
  • Prepare study rooms and equipment prior to patient arrival, adhering to infection control and safety procedures
  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, address concerns, and gather relevant medical history
  • Analyze preliminary polysomnographic data for quality assurance and identify any technical issues requiring correction
  • Collaborate with sleep medicine physicians and other clinical staff to support patient care and study interpretation
  • Maintain organized records of equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management
  • Stay current with advances in polysomnographic technology and sleep medicine practices
