About The Position

Utilizes Blood Bank laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures, assuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call back as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technology (MT) from an accredited institution program.
• Basic computer literacy.
• National certification in concordance with current federal and/or state regulations.
• Blood Bank clinical laboratory experience.

Nice To Haves

• ASCP certification.

Responsibilities

• Receive, identify, organize, and prioritize specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Perform and report requested laboratory procedures.
• Perform quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance, and inventory control.
• Evaluate positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Assess and evaluate results and draw appropriate conclusions.
• Support lifelong learning.
• Complete assigned goals.
• Provide instruction for personnel and medical technology students, as required.
