About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Dallas, TX The Medical Technologist in the Hematology department is responsible for performing high‑complexity hematology testing with an emphasis on slide review, result correlation, and collaborative case evaluation. This role supports accurate patient results by confirming analyzer findings through microscopic review, partnering with pathologists for advanced review, and contributing to optimal turnaround time (TAT) for the CBC bench during nightly operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR a n MLS degree
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • 2 year's or more of Hematology experience
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Review peripheral blood smears generated by analyzer reflex rules to confirm or investigate automated hematology results.
  • Communicate effectively with pathologists regarding abnormal or complex findings requiring medical review.
  • Correlate analyzer data with microscopic findings to ensure result accuracy and integrity.
  • Identify specimens requiring higher-level review and coordinate referrals with pathologists or medical directors as appropriate.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Support nightly CBC bench operations to maintain optimal turnaround times and workflow efficiency.
