About The Position

This is a Part-Time CT Tech position with 20 hours per week, located in Glen Ellyn. The role involves performing a variety of complex diagnostic CT procedures, from inception to completion, under the direction of a radiologist. The position requires maintaining a positive imaging environment, acting as a patient liaison, performing computer applications/scanning, quality control, daily paperwork, protocoling, and detailed patient histories. A strong understanding of radiation safety to keep exposure to ALARA levels is essential. The role also includes proficient IV starts/injections, providing quality networked images to the radiologist, and interacting professionally with various team members and patients. The technologist will perform ordered examinations, maintain patient care, comfort, and safety, and stay technically competent through continued education. Administration of IV and oral contrast, reviewing/explaining procedures to patients, performing equipment quality checks, troubleshooting, and maintaining a clean environment are also key duties. Compliance with all policies, procedures, safety regulations, and maintaining current IEMA license and CE credits are required. Additional duties as required and knowledge of radiation safety, examination performance, equipment operation, medical waste handling, patient safety, and applicable regulations are expected.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited education program in radiology technology required.
  • ARRT Registered Technologist, RT(CT
  • Current IEMA license
  • BLS -- Basic Life Support, AED Adult & Pediatric CPR required.
  • Minimum one year CT related experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of complex diagnostic CT procedures, with primary responsibility of completing diagnostic studies from inception to completion under the direction of the radiologist.
  • Performing routine CTs and CTAs, taking accurate verbal patient histories and starting I.V.s, to administer IV contrast.
  • Maintain a positive imaging environment for our patients and act as a patient liaison to the radiologist.
  • Computer applications/scanning and quality control on scanner.
  • Daily paperwork & protocoling.
  • Detailed patient histories.
  • Radiation Safety ability to keep radiation exposure to ALARA levels.
  • Proficient IV starts/injections
  • Provide radiologist with quality networked images
  • Interact as a professional with radiologist, site managers, clerical staff, and patients
  • Performs ordered examinations of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site reading radiologist.
  • Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during the exam.
  • Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in Duly Health and Care sponsored training programs.
  • Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers IV and oral contrast according to site-specific protocols.
  • Reviews/explains the procedure to the patient.
  • Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems.
  • Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.
  • Maintains a clean environment.
  • Completes necessary protocolling tasks
  • Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Complies with Duly Health and Care CT Imaging policies/procedures.
  • Complies with all safety policies and regulations including radiation safety.
  • Maintains current IEMA license for CT and, 24 hours of CE every 2 years
  • Performs additional duties as required.
  • Has knowledge of radiation safety and protection, all aspects of performing examinations, operation of equipment, handling of medical waste, patient safety, and applicable rules and regulations.
