About The Position

Vet et Nous is a multidisciplinary team composed of veterinarian both generalists and specialists operating at high rank whose mission is to take care of client’s pets as if they were our own. Our teams are split in 3 emergency and reference centres open 24/7 and several general practice hospitals and clinics in the greater Montreal, Laval, Montérégie, Laurentides, Lanaudière, Mauricie, Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean and Quebec region. This is a permanent part-time position. The schedule is day, evening, and every other weekend, depending on the operational needs of the department. Primarily under the supervision of Dr. Camille St-Jean, the internal medicine technician will be responsible for the smooth operation of the department in collaboration with the other veterinarians and technicians of the internal medicine service. Customer service, patient follow-up, and animal care must be a priority for the chosen candidate for the position.

Requirements

  • Hold a diploma as an animal health technician.
  • Have a particular interest and curiosity in internal medicine.
  • Have a concern for providing impeccable customer service and skills for customer service.
  • Very good command of spoken and written French.
  • Good command of spoken and written English is an asset (interaction with English-speaking clientele).
  • Be autonomous, responsible, and enjoy working.
  • Be responsible and committed, have excellent organizational skills and priority management.
  • Be able to work in a team, demonstrate ease of communication with colleagues.
  • Able to work under pressure – capable of managing multiple projects at once.
  • Have good judgment.
  • Have experience in anesthesia.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in internal medicine is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the specialist for appointment management, patient care, procedures, client follow-ups, etc.
  • Ensure telephone follow-ups with clients and referring veterinarians.
  • Anticipate patient needs, track billing, post-hospitalization follow-up, reminders for results/re-evaluations.
  • Participate in various procedures.
  • Be a resource person for telephone and customer service.
  • Know endoscopic instruments and the steps for setting up and cleaning the endoscope.
  • Participate in the administration of therapeutic iodine and ensure the administrative and clinical management of patients undergoing iodine treatment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and follow up with the client and referring veterinarian (follow-up after consultation/treatment or hospitalization, sending reports, taking calls).
  • Throughout the day, respond to information requests from clients and veterinarians.
  • Prepare patient discharges with clients, explain recommendations, medication, and administration, and home observation.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and new cases.
  • Assist the specialist during client consultations (taking medical history, TPR, restraint, helping to complete the file).
  • All other related tasks.
